Security is Crucial: Identity Check Feature Arrives for Samsung Galaxy Devices!
With the importance of security on personal devices like smartphones, manufacturers and developers continue to work on improving safety measures. In December 2024, tech giant Google introduced the Identity Check feature for Android devices. Recent announcements confirm that this feature will now be available for Samsung Galaxy devices running Android 15-based One UI 7. Here are the details:
Galaxy Devices with One UI 7 to Support Identity Check
This new feature ensures that in cases of theft, sensitive settings on Google-enabled devices will remain inaccessible to unauthorized users. When Identity Check is activated, thieves cannot access device or account passwords without biometric verification, even if they know the device’s PIN or password.
Key details:
- Without biometric authentication, sensitive settings cannot be accessed.
- Samsung has made the Android 15-based One UI 7 beta available for Galaxy devices, with the stable version launching alongside the Galaxy S25 series.
Google announced that the Identity Check feature will be enabled for Galaxy devices supporting One UI 7 in the coming weeks. To use this feature:
- Your device must support One UI 7.
- You’ll need to download and install the latest update.
If you own a Galaxy S25, you’ll be able to test the feature as soon as it’s released.
For now, only Google Pixel devices are confirmed to directly access this feature, and no announcements have been made for brands other than Samsung.
